Hexagon Background

I spent a good portion of my long weekend working on hexagon backgrounds because I find them so addictive.

Hello Friends,

I hope this finds you off to a good start to your week. To my fellow Canadian’s how did you spend Family Day yesterday? I went to a girlfriend’s for the day and created more hexagon backgrounds because I decided to use a piece of the background in place of Designer Series Paper (DSP) for my upcoming March class.

The lovely DSP that I used comes from “Painted Illusions,” which is this month’s Product of the Month. Aren’t these papers gorgeous together? Rather than placing my hexagons on white cardstock I used Boho Blue (retired), but you can use any colour you like.

Card Details

Using a tip from Patty Bennett, I lightly scored a full size piece of cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ with the 5 1/4″ score laying horizontal. By starting at the centre you’re guaranteed to have neat and tidy rows. Next, I used two double-side pieces of Painted Illusions and glued each hexagon in place. It’s like a puzzle because you want to keep everything looking cohesive by spreading out the colours so there aren’t two matching papers/colours side-by-side. Once all of the hexagons were in place I cut the cardstock to an A2 size which is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/4″.

Product List

As always, enjoy your paper crafting and please share your projects with me. I enjoy seeing what other creative minds come up with and am frequently inspired by them.
